"Cores are the specialized mechanical components required to construct advanced buildings and Generator upgrades."

Cores are one of the Resources in Frostpunk 2. They are used for advanced buildings that can be developed from the Idea Tree. Typically an advanced building requires 1 or 2 Cores.

Cores are too advanced to be reliably manufactured, although with the "Depleted Cores" Tale active it is possible to restart a Core Factory using stockpiles of pre-made parts. Search the Frostland to find more to add to your stockpile.

Backstory

Steam Cores were a similar mechanic in the first Frostpunk. While they could also be used in advanced buildings, they also had a role in making Automatons. It is unclear if this carried forward to modern Automatons in Frostpunk 2.
